9 March 2020

To mark the end of LGBT history month on Friday 28 February, first direct in Hamilton held its annual ‘Purple Friday’ event.

Purple Friday is a national event held by charity LGBT Youth Scotland in order to raise both awareness and funds.

People at the bank were encouraged to dress in purple, the last stripe on the rainbow flag which signifies ‘spirit’. In addition, they held a fundraising tombola and raffle which raised a total of £686.22 to donate to the charity.

first direct has a strong pride network and one of its committee members, Domonic Clark, said: “This is the first Purple Friday event I’ve been involved in and it was amazing to see so many people get into the true spirit of the day by supporting our network and the LGBT community.”
