Types of mortgages and rates

Here you’ll find everything you need to know about the types of mortgages and rates we offer.

We offer 2 types of mortgages

This is how you’ll repay the money you’ve borrowed over the mortgage period.

Repayment Mortgages

Simple and straightforward, a Repayment Mortgage includes repaying the capital amount borrowed, as well as any charged interest. And if you keep up your monthly repayments, both the interest and money you’ve borrowed will be paid off at the end of the mortgage term.

Interest-only Offset Mortgages

Offset mortgages are only available to existing Offset Mortgage customers. They work by linking your first direct savings and current account(s) to your mortgage and paying interest on the difference. For example, if your mortgage is £150k and your savings are £30k, you’ll only pay interest on £120k.

We offer 3 types of mortgage rates

This is how your interest rate is determined over the mortgage period, which affects your monthly repayments.

Fixed Rate

A Fixed Rate Mortgage allows you to fix your interest rate for an agreed time, for example 2 or 5 years, so you always know exactly how much you’re paying each month.

Tracker Rate

A Tracker Rate Mortgage sets your interest rate at an agreed percentage above the Bank of England base rate. This means your interest rate will change if and when the Bank of England adjusts the base rate.

Standard Variable Rate

The interest rate on a Standard Variable Rate Mortgage is set by us and may vary from time to time over the life of the mortgage.

Plus there are no booking fees on some mortgages, or fixed at £490 (fees are non-refundable but can be transferred to another deal for up to 6 months). We don’t charge for support and advice from our advisors.

***We don’t cap/limit your overpayment allowance like some other lenders – it’s simply not fair to do it. Once you're settled in your first home know you can make overpayments towards your mortgage, unlimited overpayments could mean you could reduce the overall interest you pay in the future.

An overpayment may be subject to an Early Repayment Charge if the mortgage account is repaid in full during the fixed rate period.
