By entering the first direct You’re more than just a number prize draw – August 2025, you’re agreeing to these terms and conditions.

 

Who’s running the prize draw?

first direct, a division of HSBC UK Bank plc, is the promoter of the prize draw.

 

Can I enter the prize draw?

To enter you need to:

  • Be a first direct 1st Account customer
  • be a resident in Great Britain
  • be aged 18 years or over

You can’t enter if:

  • you’ve been involved with organising or running the prize draw
  • you’re entering for someone else.

Your entry won’t count if you don’t meet the above. You’ll be disqualified if you stop meeting these criteria at any time before the prize draw ends (even if your entry was valid when you entered). 

 

How do I enter?

This prize draw is free to enter. 

You can enter the prize draw from 12:00 GMT on 20 August 2025 until 23:59 GMT on 25 August 2025. Both the start date (20 August from 12:00 GMT) and the end date (25 August until 23:59 GMT) are included in this period. We won’t accept entries received after the closing date.

 

To enter the Prize Draw, you need to click “Count me in” in the email addressed to you received from first direct. This will take you to a landing page, once you have read the T&C’s click “enter now” and this will register your entry to the prize draw. You will be directed to web page outside of the original email which will confirm your entry.

There is no purchase or entry fee to enter this Prize Draw.

For the avoidance of doubt, the relevant first direct prize draw email will be issued on 20 August 2025. It will invite the receiver to enter the prize draw by clicking “Count me in” through the received email.

You can only enter the prize draw once.

 

What are the prizes?

There are 5 prizes in total. Each prize consists of:

2 tickets to see Beethoven’s Ninth at The Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore, London, SW7 2AP on Saturday 20 September 2025.

£500 cash prize intended to cover travel and accommodation on the night of the event. This will be paid directly into the winners first direct 1st account a minimum of 7 days prior to the event.

Refreshments throughout the performance

All prizes are subject to availability and non transferable.

If you win, you’re responsible for any tax liabilities.

The prize does not include any additional accommodation, food, beverage, transport costs, spending money or other additional costs and the winners will need to pay for these.

If we can’t offer the prize, we’ll give you another prize of equal or greater value. We can’t:

  • exchange the prize for cash
  • swap the prize for something else or
  • give your prize to someone else.
  • disclaim any obligations regarding rights of admission, re-entry
  • exclude liability if the event is cancelled or curtailed

 

How will winners be chosen?

We’ll pick the winners randomly at 10:00 GMT on 27 August 2025 using software which randomly selects the winner.

The odds of winning will depend on the total number of valid entries received.

How will I know if I’ve won?

If you win, we’ll try to contact you via telephone on 29 August 2025 using the contact information we hold on your account – we will attempt contact up to 5 times. If you don’t claim your prize by Tuesday 02 September 2025, you will forfeit the right to your prize. If you fail to respond, are found to be ineligible, or reject the prize, this will result in the prize being forfeited and the prize will be awarded to the next entrant, in the order they were drawn.

Is there anything I need to know about the Royal Albert Hall?

The operators of the Royal Albert Hall can refuse admission to the winner or any of their guests.

first direct is only responsible for providing the tickets to the winner, and in particular shall not be responsible for any expenses, losses, distress or inconvenience resulting from any revocation or refusal of admission, or for anything else that occurs at the Royal Albert Hall. We can change these terms or cancel the prize draw without telling you in advance if:

  • required by law, or
  • there are reasons beyond our control, or
  • there’s a fair or valid reason.”

The winner and their guests will need to comply with the Royal Albert Hall’s policy on children under 14, which is as follows:

  • as a responsible entertainment venue, the safety and comfort of our patrons is paramount. This duty of care is particularly relevant when protecting minors under 14 years old; as such our policy is that all children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult defined as someone 18+ years of age who will be present for the full duration of the event
  • for certain shows where the audience is both seated and standing, no one under 14 years old will be permitted AT ALL to stand on the auditorium floor
  • parents should always be aware of their general responsibilities regarding their children’s safety in situations where they are outside their direct control, and adhere to legislation detailing these responsibilities
  • unless photographic proof of age is supplied, The Royal Albert Hall staff will make a judgement based on visual appearance prior to entry
  • babies and toddlers – we strongly advise that children under the age of 3 should not be admitted to the venue except for particular productions which are age appropriate as advised by our ticketing office staff.

 

What else do I need to know?

We’re not responsible for any loss or damage you incur by taking part in the prize draw unless the loss or damage is caused by our negligence. Your statutory rights are not affected.

You’re responsible for complying with any terms and conditions issued by the supplier of a prize.

We can change these terms or cancel the prize draw without telling you in advance if:

  • required by law
  • there are reasons beyond our control
  • there’s a fair or valid reason.

What about my intellectual property rights?

If your entry includes intellectual property rights (such as trademarks or copyright), submitting your entry does not affect who owns those rights. This means that we won’t own your entry, but by submitting it you’re giving us a licence which:

  • is non-exclusive (which means that you can also give others a licence to your entry),
  • is unpaid,
  • allows us to give the rights to your entry to others,
  • allows us to license your entry to others, and
  • we can use anywhere in the world.

We might not use the licence you give us but if we decide to use your entry for any reason, we can:

  • use or copy it,
  • adapt or make derivative works from it, and
  • display or publish it.

You’re responsible for your entry and you should have all the rights (including intellectual property rights) needed to create and share it with us. 

By submitting your entry, you’re giving up your right to be identified as the creator or author.

Your personal data

You can find out the surnames and county of the winners by emailing fdcompetition@firstdirect.com.

If you win, we may give your surname and county to anyone who requests this information, including our regulators. You can tell us if you don’t want us to do this or if you want to limit the amount of information that we make available about a winning entry. 

We will use your information to run the prize draw and award prizes.
