How do I find my repayment date for my Personal Loan?

You can find details about your Personal Loan, including the date of your first repayment, in your confirmation.

Your first payment will be collected on the date of the month you chose in your application, but no payments will be taken in the first 30 days. For example, if your loan started on February 1 and you chose February 15 for repayments, your first payment would be on March 15.

Personal Loan repayments are made via Direct Debit. If your scheduled payment date falls on a non-working day, the payment will be processed on the next working day.

You can review and alter your Direct Debit payments by giving us a call on 03 456 100 100 or sending us a message through our chat support function on our App or Online banking.

How do I make an overpayment from my 1st account?

You can do this through our App.

Before you get started, make a note of the sort code and account number for your Personal Loan (displayed on the 'Balances' page of our App).

tap the three dots (...) next to your account balance, then select Payments.
choose Send and transfer money, then Send to a new person
enter the payee details: full name, Personal Loan sort code and account number, and set Account type to Personal.
add a payee name (Save payee as), then enter the reference, amount and payment date. Tap next.
check the details and tap Confirm.

Alternatively, you can make a payment through Online Banking or give us a call on 03 456 100 100 and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Please be aware: You can make overpayments to your loan as often as you'd like. Making overpayments will not change the scheduled repayment amount or date, but will shorten the term of your loan. Your existing loan repayments must remain in place as per your terms and conditions.

How do I make an overpayment from an account held elsewhere?

To make a payment from an account held outside first direct, please provide your bank with your name, first direct Personal Loan sort code and account number

You can find these details in a few places:

in the Balances screen in our App or Online Banking
on your original loan confirmation
on your annual loan statement

You’ll also need to provide a payment reference (of your choice) and the date you’d like the payment to be made.

If you want to pay off your loan early, you'll need to obtain your settlement figure. Please contact us using one of the following methods:

In our App -

'log on' to our first direct App
select ‘Help’ on the balances screen (bottom right)
choose ‘Chat now’
enter: “I’d like a settlement figure for my personal loan”
follow the on-screen instructions.

Online Banking -

Use the ‘Message us’ feature at the bottom right of your online banking page.

By phone -

Call us on 03 456 100 100.

Either way a member of our team will be happy to help. Once you have received your settlement you can continue to pay your loan off in full with a member of the team.

Please be aware: Once you have received your settlement figure a member of the team will be able to complete your payment if you wish to pay your loan off early. Your settlement figure will last 28 days before you will need to request a new one.

Why do I have a balance left after paying off my loan?

If you have paid your Personal Loan directly before receiving a settlement figure you may find that you still have an outstanding balance.

The best way to get help is by contacting us via the 'Chat' feature in our App or the 'Message us' feature on our Online banking.

How do I receive a loan payment confirmation?

Once you’ve made the final payment on your Personal Loan, we’ll issue a closing statement and send it to you by post.

After the loan is closed, it will no longer appear on your digital channels. You should expect it to drop off from the App and Online banking, and the details will no longer appear there going forwards.

What's the interest rate on my loan?

You can confirm the interest rate on your existing Personal Loan by viewing your statement.

Via the App

log on to the App
from the balances screen, tap the ‘three dots’ next to your Personal Loan
select ‘Statements’
choose the statement you want to view
your interest rate is shown on the right-hand side under Account Summary.

Via Online Banking -

log on to Online Banking
from the balances screen, select your Personal Loan account
select ‘Statements’ (on the right-hand side of the screen)
choose the statement you want to view
your interest rate is shown on the right-hand side under Account Summary.

Please be aware:

Personal Loan statements are generated annually. If you’re within your first year of repayments, or you don’t have access to digital services, please call 03 456 100 100 for assistance.

Why is my loan rate different to the loan rate advertised?

Credit is subject to status. The rate you'll receive depends on your individual circumstances, credit checks and an assessment of your financial situation. The rate you're offered may differ to the rates you see advertised.

The rate you're offered could be higher than the advertised annual percentage rate (APR). The maximum APR you could be offered is 18.9% APR.

Can I cancel a loan at any time?

You can cancel your loan at any time by contacting us via 'Chat' in our App or 'Message us' feature on our Online banking. If you cancel within your loan’s 14-day cooling-off period, you’ll only need to repay the capital (the amount you borrowed).

If you have gone beyond the 14-day cooling off period a settlement figure will need to be calculated.
