use your first direct card to withdraw cash and pay for goods and services throughout the world
it's a debit card - wherever you see the Maestro logo you may use your first direct card. You will normally need to enter your PIN at checkouts. Foreign currency exchange rates are shown on your statement against each transaction inclusive of an exchange rate adjustment - currently 2.75% to cover our handling costs and any card processing.
if you need cash or local currency, you can use your first direct card at 560,000 cash machines worldwide displaying the Maestro or Cirrus symbol. Your PIN is the same and instructions are in English. Cash withdrawals abroad are charged at 1.50% of the transaction value (minimum £1.75). first directory members do not incur the 1.5% transacting fee. An exchange rate adjustment - currently 2.75% is made to cover our handling costs and any card processing.
some Maestro or Cirrus members apply a direct charge for withdrawals from their machines, this will be advised on screen at the time, and you will be given an option to cancel.
