Staying safe online

As you'd expect for a bank, we take security very seriously indeed. That's why we've helped to set up a special website devoted to the subject. The Get Safe Online website is the stop, look, listen of the internet - and it should be your first port of call, whether you use internet banking or not. They've even got a handy ten-minute primer if you're in a hurry.

  • How we protect you
From secure sessions to automatic timeouts, you can find out more about what we do to keep you and your details safe here.
  • Our guarantee
If in the unlikely case that you had money taken from your account as a result of computer crime, we would repay it in full. Find out more.
  • Keeping yourself protected
There are some very simple measures you can take to make sure you and your family are safe online - so we'll take a look at them here.
  • Viruses, phishing and other nasty critters
There are a lot of unsavoury types out there - it's worth familiarising yourself with them so you know what to look out for.

To coin a phrase, we don't want you to have nightmares - but we do want you to feel safe. We hope this section will do just that.

  • If you ever think your security has been compromised - just give us a call
  • If you receive an email from first direct that you're suspicious about, simply forward it to us at phishing@hsbc.com and we'll check it out.
